Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
Location: EAS Manufacturing Facilities – High Point, NC
Department: Manufacturing Quality Department
Reports To: Quality Manager

Our success is built on people with passion and purpose, and now we’re seeking a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to join our Manufacturing Quality team.
The Opportunity
As a Certified Welding Inspector, you’ll be at the forefront of maintaining the highest levels of welding quality and compliance. You’ll apply your expertise in welding codes, standards, and inspection to ensure our products meet stringent requirements and uphold EAS’s AISC and ISO certifications. This is a critical role for someone who values precision, safety, and continuous improvement.
What You’ll DoPerform and supervise visual and dimensional inspections of welds and fabrication activities to ensure compliance with ASME Section IX, AWS D1.1, and other applicable codes.
Maintain welder continuity logs, qualification records, and certifications.
Develop, manage, and review Welding Procedure Specifications (WPSs) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQRs).
Identify and document quality issues, recommend solutions, and take corrective actions through RCCA or CQI.
Coordinate non-destructive testing (NDT) with outside contractors.
Ensure inspection and test documentation is accurate, complete, and submitted timely.
Assist with quality control tasks such as equipment verification, electrical testing, and final assembly inspections.
Serve as Lead Auditor for Quality Management System (QMS) evaluations.
Conduct process audits as required by the PQP or QMS.
Train EAS employees and suppliers, serving as a Subject Matter Expert in Core Quality Tools, AQP, RCCA, and CQI.
What You Bring
Required:
High school diploma or GED.
Current AWS CWI certification.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Certified Welding Inspector in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
Preferred: Associate’s degree in welding technologies.
Experience with ISO 9001 and AISC quality management systems.
Skills & Knowledge:
Expert knowledge of welding codes, standards, and specifications (AWS D1.1, D1.2, D1.3, ASME B31.3).
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and weld symbols.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Knowledge of ANSI/AISC 360-16, Chapter N (Quality Control & Assurance) is a plus.
