Pioneer Community Energy Seeks a Power Resources Analyst
The Power Resources Analyst is responsible for performing professional analytical research related to power supply planning, load forecasting, and energy procurement. Duties include:
Working with consultants, vendors, scheduling coordinator, and senior management to analyze risk and value around complex transactions and portfolio positions, including power generation, load forecasts and load scheduling, hedging strategies.
Assisting with procurement activities for renewable and conventional energy, resource adequacy and related products and services.
Conducting market and portfolio modeling and analysis of the Authority’s power supply position to effectively monitor exposure to adverse market changes.
Participating in the Authority’s resource planning process.
Providing support in the creation and implementation of measures to benchmark system implementations, enhancements or modifications by providing documented system specifications, evaluating vendor proposals and recommending appropriate course of action.
Keeping abreast of customer trends, patterns and issues; using data to evaluate current trends and determining if existing policies or procedures should be modified to better meet the needs of the customers.
Participating in the development and maintenance of stakeholder relationships including Power Purchase Agreements, interconnection, consultants, and permitting agencies.
Assisting with performance auditing and monitoring of Authority contracts.
Tracking counterparty compliance with contract milestones.
Evaluating congestion impacts of contracted physical paths and identify financially advantageous paths for nomination to the annual, monthly, and quarterly CAISO allocations and auctions.
Requirements
Qualified candidates will have a knowledge of energy generation technologies including carbon neutral electric energy, conventional energy, and renewable energy such as wind, biomass, geothermal, solar, concentrating solar, and hydroelectric and have an ability to apply analytical and research methods to a variety of electric utility program areas including planning, forecasting, load research, utility demand, and demand-side management.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Business Administration, Public Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience: Two years of increasingly responsible experience in electric utility resource planning.
