JOB DESCRIPTION:
PRIMARY DUTY:
The Infant and Toddler Teacher will serve as a teacher and educational leader in an early childhood laboratory school environment which values child-centered care and education practices. The Infant and Toddler Teacher should possess high energy and the ability to handle the demands of infants and toddlers with different personalities and needs.
This position will design and implement curriculum to meet the social, emotional, physical, communication and cognitive needs of children based on the National Association for the Education of Young Children accreditation standards and a Reggio-inspired philosophy of learning.
This position is responsible for promoting high standards for care and teaching of young children, communicating effectively with parents, curriculum design, and collaboration with Leet Center, Horace Mann, and School of Education faculty and staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Collaborate with ITC colleagues for the best interest of the infants and toddlers within the ITC classroom
2. Be responsible for the overall daily operation of the infant/toddler classroom
3. Be responsible for the health, safety, and well-being of infants and toddlers
4. Be responsible for creating an environment that is nurturing, developmentally appropriate, and allows for exploration and investigation
5. Collaborate with the School of Education Early Childhood faculty for the placement and mentorship of University Early Childhood students
6. Mentor and coach the Early Childhood students by offering positive guidance, constructive feedback, and support throughout their practicum experiences
7. Mentor and coach student employees by offering positive guidance, constructive feedback, and support
8. Build and maintain working relationships with parents, families, caregivers and other Horace Mann and Leet Center colleagues
9. Participate in professional development opportunities when needed and/or as they arise
10. Participate in after school committees, parent meetings, and faculty meetings, as assigned
11. Participate in University, School, department and discipline accreditation processes (DESE, AAQEP, HLC, NAEYC) and related duties to ensure continuous quality improvement
12. Support the Director of Horace Mann & Leet Center and Assistant Director of the Leet Center in earning and maintaining state licensure and operational safety training and protocols
13. Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelors degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, or other closely related associated program OR Five or more years of experience in childcare
Experience:
Experience in childcare; knowledge of Constructivist Philosophy, Reggio Emilia Approach, and Conscious Discipline; experience in a collaborative setting
Skills:
Ability to collaborate with others; communication skills; general technology skills; ability to mentor and coach University students

Part-Time Music Teacher
DEPARTMENT:
Horace Mann
JOB DESCRIPTION:
PRIMARY DUTY:
This position will work part-time as the vocal music instructor and Bearcat Choir sponsor at the Horace Mann Laboratory School, which includes grades Kindergarten through Sixth Grade.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Teach vocal music at the elementary (K-6) level half time
2. Utilize effective instructional practice and deep theoretical knowledge in order to support teacher candidates learning and development through mentoring and providing in-depth feedback and assistance to teachers-in-training
3. Serve as Bearcat Choir Sponsor (3rd 6th grade musical group that performs at various events throughout the year, including but not limited to, the International Flag Raising, Thanksgiving Luncheon, Holiday Tree Lighting, etc.)
4. Develop and implement curriculum and lesson plans focusing on a child centered, engaging, and learning environment
5. Support, organize, and maintain an enriching, joyful, rigorous, and authentic music experience for children in grades K-6
6. Communicate regularly and proactively with children and families
7. Collaborate with staff members integrating music across curricular areas
8. Work to continuously improve effectiveness in all instructional practices and use feedback to make productive positive changes in performance
9. Complete all administrative requirements before given deadlines
10. Participate in required programs as needed throughout the year (including but not limited to Back to School Open House, Bearcat Choir events, Music Programs, school events, etc.)
11. Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: B.S., B.A. or B.M.E. degree and current certification for teaching music at the elementary level
Certification/License: Certification for teaching in Missouri
Experience: Experience in teaching early childhood and elementary student and in supervising music programs
WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position will work in an elementary laboratory school setting on a college campus

JOB DESCRIPTION:
PRIMARY DUTY:
Northwest Missouri State University School of Education is seeking applications for Instructional Aides for One year old through Sixth Grade classrooms at Horace Mann Laboratory School. The successful candidate will operate in a co-teaching capacity at an innovative, project-based, child-centered elementary laboratory school.
The Instructional Aide will work under the direction of the Director to support children with exemplary instruction within a laboratory school setting with a focus on project based learning and individualized instruction.
The Leet Center and Horace Mann Laboratories work with a focus on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics within a social justice framework. The Instructional Aide will work collaboratively with the classroom teachers to provide a unique instructional experience where children share a classroom with specific instruction and blended learning of integrated subjects.
The Instructional Aide is responsible for supporting the laboratory school staff in promoting high expectations for students, working collaboratively with co-teachers, communicating effectively with parents, assisting with curriculum development infusing art and music into content areas, and working collaboratively with the School of Education faculty and staff.
The Instructional Aide must demonstrate an appreciation and promotion of diversity as a commitment to the School of Education and Northwest Missouri State University.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Work in cooperation with master teachers to offer small group instruction, whole group classroom management and assist with all duties associated with teaching in an elementary school
2. Supervise classroom activities in the absence of the classroom teacher
3. Participate in highly collaborative, professional learning activities with colleagues
4. Build relationships with families and community members to promote regular parent involvement in school activities and ongoing partnerships
5. Support University and School initiative related to diversity, equity, and inclusion
6. Assist with university and program accreditation (NAEYC, HLC, CAEP, DESE, NAEYC, and/or other)
7. Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Associates degree or Bachelors degree from an accredited University/College/Technical School
Certification/License: Missouri Substitute Certificate (or the ability to obtain immediately)
Experience: Previous experience working with children
Skills: Nurturing and dedicated work ethic; flexibility; ability to be cooperative, enthusiastic, and dependable; good social disposition; model professional attitude and demeanor
Other: Successful completion of a background check; minimum of 18 years of age
